Dental Emergencies in Cebu City: What Counts and What to Do

If a tooth suddenly starts throbbing in the middle of your shift, the first question is usually: is this actually an emergency, or can it wait until the weekend? Here's a practical way to think about it, plus what actually happens when you walk into GrandSmile with one.
What we'd call a real dental emergency
Sharp, persistent pain that doesn't ease with an over-the-counter painkiller, visible swelling in your gum or cheek, a knocked-out or badly cracked tooth, or bleeding that won't stop are all reasons to come in the same day rather than wait it out.
What can usually wait for a regular booking
Mild sensitivity to hot or cold, a small chip you can't feel with your tongue, or discomfort that comes and goes are worth getting checked, but they're not usually a same-day emergency — a regular booked appointment is the right move.
Fun fact: dental pain is often worse at night because lying down increases blood flow to the head, raising pressure around an already-inflamed tooth.
What happens when you walk in
We accommodate emergencies the same day across our 3 treatment chairs whenever possible. There's a flat ₱810 on-site emergency service charge, billed separately from whatever treatment you end up needing — we'll always tell you the number before we start.
Why location matters for emergencies specifically
Being centrally located on the Ground Floor of APM Centrale, Soriano Avenue, means you don't have to cross the city while in pain. That's the whole reason we're open every day, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM — shift schedules don't pause for regular business hours, and neither should emergency access.
Insider tip: if you're not sure whether to come in, call us directly — we can often tell over the phone whether it needs a same-day visit.
Full details, including the emergency charge and what to expect, are on our Emergency page — worth bookmarking before you need it, not after.
